My kitchen garden is the King’s Kitchen Garden
A bird’s-eye map, a visitor booklet and illustrated information panels for the Potager du Roi’s new communication campaign.
As part of a change of image, the Potager du Roi, the King’s Kitchen Garden at Versailles, needed a wide range of graphic material: a visitor booklet, information panels and a banner for its website. The Communication and Patronage team of the École nationale supérieure de paysage de Versailles commissioned Alice Stevens to illustrate them.
The booklet helps visitors find their way around with a bird’s-eye map, drawn in mixed media with Indian ink and digital colour, and with black-and-white illustrations of the main sights. Information panels installed in the garden point out upcoming works, show what they will look like and tell the history of each spot. The illustrations offer a light, colourful view of the past, present and future of each place.
The public responded so well to this original signage that the Potager du Roi ordered eight more panels.
